In order to tap the full potential of foreign affairs work, serve local economic and social development, and help rural students broaden their international horizons, Zibo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office held the 14th public welfare activity of Zibo International Exchange Platform with the theme of "Foreign Teachers Enter the Countryside to Empower Rural Revitalization" in Yulong Middle School of Huantai County on November 20th. The activity invited Adrian, a Canadian teacher from the Zibo International Academy at Hi-tech Zone, to give lessons to the students. More than 110 school teachers and students participated in the activity. Starting with the Mata Lake National Wetland Park familiar to the students, Adrian explained the English expressions for different animals and their habitats. He also used an AI image generator to create images of animals described in English by the students, sparking their interests in learning English. In the classroom, students were enthusiastic, creating a lively atmosphere. The activity has broadened students’ horizons and enabled them to learn English while appreciating cutting-edge technologies and improving their cross-cultural communication abilities. During their stay, Adrian and his team also experienced related cultural activities with rural characteristics. It is understood that Adrian, as a foreign teacher, has been working and living in Zibo for more than ten years, and he has participated in school volunteer teaching service activities for many times. He once said, "I want to express my gratitude for everything here, including the people, the living environment and my work, which made me feel at home. It is fair to say that Zibo has become my second home." The activity of "Foreign Teachers Enter Rural Classrooms" is a part of the series activities on the basis of the International Exchange Platform held by the Zibo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office. The activity aims to broaden students’ horizons, support rural English teaching, deepen foreign teachers' understanding of Zibo's local culture, tell “Zibo’s Stories” well, enhance cooperation and friendship, and jointly empower rural revitalization. In the future, Zibo Municipal Foreign Affairs Office will leverage the activity of “Foreign Teachers Enter Rural Classrooms” and other public welfare activities as means to better benefit the local community by providing foreign affairs resources and services so as to make contributions to Chinese modernization.
