In response to President Xi Jinping's major initiative to invite 50,000 American youth to China for exchange and learning over the next five years, and at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the "Shared Journey of Friendship" U.S. Youth Exchange Delegation from Washington State visited Zibo from September 20 to 21. Nearly 40 teachers and students from Lincoln High School, Stadium High School, and other relevant institutions in Washington State gained a comprehensive understanding of Zibo and experienced its culture, building a bridge of friendship that connects the youth of both places for mutual growth. Deputy Mayor Hu Xiaohong attended related activities and delivered a welcome speech to the delegation. During their journey in Zibo, the delegation visited Zibo Vocational Institute, where they participated in interactive activities such as painting, ceramic and colored glaze making, and traditional Chinese acupuncture and massage with local students and teachers. They also held exchange meetings with various schools, discussing cooperation projects on student exchanges and youth interaction. Additionally, the Zibo People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries signed a memorandum of cooperation with the U.S.-China Youth and Student Exchange Association. The delegation toured the Zibo Ceramics and Glass Museum, experienced traditional intangible cultural heritage printmaking, and gained a deeper understanding of Zibo's ceramics and colored glaze culture, including their history and related unique industries, promoting cultural exchanges between China and the world. In the future, the Zibo Foreign Affairs Office of Zibo Municipal People’s Government will continue to actively introduce high-quality resources to Zibo City, enrich the content of international youth exchange platforms, and carry out high-level and high-impact youth exchange activities. These efforts aim to serve the comprehensive development of young people and establish Zibo as a model for international youth cooperation in Shandong Province. |
